The state of Nevada has varied terrain, including desert, mountains, rivers, forests and lakes. It’s a terrific area for observing wildlife and geological wonders. There are numerous ways to enjoy the scenery but Nevada camping sites get visitors close to the natural world. Many of these campgrounds are contained within State Parks and conservation areas.

Dayton State Park is 12 miles from Carson City but there is no sense of being so close to civilization as the Carson River runs through the park and the rugged cliffs are in the background. There are ten campsites for tents and RVs and space is confined to 34 feet in length. The campground has a dumping station and picnic spots and it’s one of the best Nevada camping locations for bird watching, fishing or hiking. The pavilion has an electricity supply, tables and barbecue and is popular with groups. The pavilion can be booked in advanced for functions, such as birthday celebrations, weddings or children’s parties.

The Silver Sage RV Park is an RV only park, situated at Reno. All the amenities of the city are close by, including restaurants and shopping malls. The campground is also close to the historic Peppermill Casino. There are 43 RV sites, each with cable, telephone, modem and fax connections. There is also Wi-Fi access available. It is a gated site for security and there are shower and laundry facilities. Campers can enjoy the picnic and barbecue areas.

Beaver Dam State Park covers 2,400 acres and is a truly isolated wilderness with opportunities to see lots of wildlife. Its location is in the Beaver Dam Mountains and it is on the edge of the Dixie National Forest. There are picnic areas, walking trails and fishing in the rivers. This Nevada camping area is popular with people with disabilities and all 33 campsites have wheelchair access. Town amenities are close by in the town of Panaca, 30 miles away.

Echo Canyon State Park is suitable for tents and RVs and is 15 miles from the town of Pioche. This park is one of the most popular Nevada camping areas, known for its wildlife, fishing, hiking and swimming facilities. Some full hook ups are available and the campground has picnic areas. The campground is arranged around the 65 acre Echo Canyon Reservoir, which is stocked with bass, crappie and rainbow trout. There is a boat launch ramp for access on the water. The area promises sightings of herons, eagles, teals, coyotes and jackrabbits. Snow occasionally falls here through the winter.
